2019 Experience Driving Tour

Experience Grand Traverse Bay, Mackinac Island, and the tradition of the Grand Hotel. Begin the journey north on scenic country roads through quaint towns to Traverse City.

Enjoy dinner at the Haggerty car collection and spend the night overlooking beautiful Grand Traverse Bay.

From Traverse City up the coast of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, take in the stunning natural treasures of sight and sound.

In Mackinac City, board a ferry to one of National Geographic’s top 5 island destinations in the world, Mackinac Island. Arrive to a Victorian style setting where only bicycles and horse-drawn carriages are allowed. Discover the history of Fort Mackinac, a former British and American military outpost, and enjoy magnificent views of Mackinac Bridge, one of the largest suspension bridges in the US. Also take in the splendor of Arch Rock, a naturally formed limestone arch standing nearly 15 stories over the shoreline.

Stay or visit the Grand Hotel where you will experience spectacular views of the Straits of Mackinac (the water where Lake Michigan and Lake Huron connect) from the world’s longest porch. Rich in history and the filming location of Somewhere In Time with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour, the Grand Hotel has been charming guests where meals are an event and nightly dancing remains part of the experience since 1887. Upon departing the island, you will have had an unforgettable adventure!

Rejoin your cars to venture south through Tunnel of Trees, a corridor of lush hardwoods and evergreens knit into a canopy over the road, before enjoying lunch at a State of Michigan Historic Landmark, Leg's Inn, on the shore of Lake Michigan. After lunch, continue traveling south to stay in Traverse City with a farewell dinner at the West Bay Beach Resort. Enjoy the hotel continental breakfast before departing back to Kalamazoo.

To ensure group pricing for lodging, meals, and activities, all registrations must be confirmed by May 1, 2019.

If you cannot attend the Driving Tour, join us for the weekend.
