Significant work on the existing CCCA Museum building was completed last spring in time for the June, 2011 Grand Experience. New tile floors and improved lighting are the most recent improvements made to enhance the visitor experience.
The Board of Trustees is planning to add additional storage and the long awaited ADA compliant rest room facilities to serve our present building and to add a much needed fire suppression system.
The fire suppression system is now much more affordable since the Gilmore Museum has added their new visitors center which required fire suppression. They dug a major water well and installed a pump system and standby power generator. We can connect to this system eliminating the necessity of creating our own well and support equipment.
The storage addition is necessary because the library’s collections continue to expand; no space remains to accept additional materials or cars.
“In recent years we have received many unique documents that require special archival facilities that are now available to us in the Gilmore vault in their new building to supplement our own library facilities" said CCCA Museum President Howard Freedman, who also noted that the present facilities are not satisfactory for year-round use by researchers, scholars and visitors.
